(6 1/4") wide by 10.5cm. (4 1/8") high. This design is well moulded and has crayfish and shells around the sides, with a roundel surrounded by a border of shells to the top. Shelley produced five animal designs which are now all very collectable. This design of mould was made in three sizes and this one is in excellent condition. £135. U.S.A.

D16926 A Shelley 'Ritz' pattern mould. Marked, in green, 'Shelley', in a shield, with 'ENGLAND' beneath. The base of the mould is impressed with the number '3' which is the size number. Date: c.1920. Size: 17.8cm. (7") long by 15.2cm. (6") wide by 13.4cm. (5 1/4") high. This is one of the pattern names which Shelley named after a London hotel. D16916 An earthenware mould printed with a recipe for Brown & Polson's Corn Flour Blanc-Mange. Marked, to the base, with a manufcturers mark which has a monogram of the letters B and P around an anchor with the abbreviation 'CO LD' in the top of the anchor. This is the mark of the British Anchor Pottery Co. Ltd. who traded in Longton, Staffordshire from 1884. Beneath the mark are the words 'MADE IN ENGLAND'. Date: c.1920. Size: 18.8cm. (7 3/8") long by 13.7cm. (5 3/8") wide by 11.7cm. (4 5/8") high. This piece is fairly simple in shape and it is heavily potted. There is a very fine hairline crack in the rim which is 2cm. (3/4") long and there are a few bubbles in the glaze. £52. U.S.A.

D16915 A Shelley 'French' pattern mould. Marked, in black, 'SHELLEY', in a shield, with 'MADE IN' above the shield and 'ENGLAND' beneath. Date: c.1925. Size: 18.5cm. (7 1/4") long by 15.5cm. (6 1/8") wide by 11.5cm. (4 1/4") high. Many of the pattern names for Shelley moulds were named after London hotels but I don't think that this was one as I have not been able to trace a French Hotel. The design is one of the more simple shapes produced by Shelley but it does turn out very well. It is in excellent condition. £42. U.S.A.

Shelley named most of their jelly moulds after London hotels and this one is no exception. The Hotel Cecil was one of the grandest hotels in the world when it was built in 1886.
